7th December 2013 Christmas wreaths from the garden and hedgerow
This morning course is a hands on masterclass where you will create your own wreath to take home to decorate your door or tabletop. On the day you will learn how to select and arrange plant material to create something special, beautiful and very original.
The techniques demonstrated on the day can be used to create wreaths for all seasons. Collecting foliage and flowers in the garden as well as foraging in hedgerows is a lovely way to keep in touch with the changing seasons as well as creating inspired floral arrangements. All tools are provided but feel free to bring along any extra plant material from your garden if you so wish.
Sat 25th January 2014 Plant Propagation
This hands on workshop will demystify the art of propagation. You will learn how to take cuttings, divide herbaceous plants, sow seed and other techniques to enable you to create your own plants at a minimum cost if not totally free!
Most techniques are very simple once you have been shown how and why. Select plants from our garden and take home the plants you propagate on the day.
Sat 15th Febuary Make a willow dome (a willow igloo, aka. the Wi-gloo)
During this workshop you will help construct a willow dome to provide a natural shelter for chickens or simply for the kids to hide and explore.
The technique can also be used to construct both small and large scale sculptures and structures from a rustic trellis or archway, for sweet peas to scramble over, to a large ship or even castle for children to play in. The course covers the cultivation of willow so you can grow your own for using in both living and non-living structures.
Willow cuttings will be available to buy on the day.
Sat 22nd Febuary Planning for abundance Learn how to make your vegetable garden or allotment productive year round with simple planning.
The course covers topics from selecting what to grow, how to prepare the soil ready for crops, making your own plant feeds and crop rotation but the focus will be creating a plan for the layout of your garden or allotment and producing a seed sowing, planting and harvesting schedule to help you get the best from your plot.
